Titans Pre-season at Filton

October 22, 2018

On Sunday 14th of October the Titans visited Bristol Pride at the SGS Wise campus in Filton. An annual Pre-season fixture for the Titans as Pride are formidable opponents and a good test for getting ready for the Premiership season. The previous two encounters between the Titans and Bristol had saw Bristol both times narrowly beat the Titans. This year with a very limited squad of returning players Swansea were able to hold Bristol to a 6-6 draw. The game was unfortunately stopped early due to an injury. The Titans defense held the sustained Pride attacks throughout the afternoon with a brilliant display from linebacker Gethyn Chadwick and corner backs Ben Cooper and Harry Calton. The Titans Offence struggled without the starting QB Sam Huxtable but stand in QB Elliot Bodman was able to notch up our 6 points from a brilliant 50 yards tuck and run which saw him leave Bristol players unable to catch him.

The Second half of the day saw the Titans rookies join in Filton's tournament which saw Gloucester, Reading, Swansea and Bristol pride field teams. The Titans rookies most of whom had only had 3 training sessions under their belt were surprisingly impressive being able to beat Filton's rookies by 1 score to 0. They were also able to hold Readings 1st to a 0-0 draw. This was a great result as Readings team was made up of player who are their starters. The Titan's rookies did however lose their final game against Gloucester by 3 scores to 1. Rookie Running back Todun Soetan scored both the touchdowns for the Titans and Defensive Lineman Piers Jensen impressed with a couple of sacks of defense. All in all it was a very successful trip for the Titans which left us leaving Bristol confident for the coming season and the future of the team.
