Varsity 2019 Build Up

April 8, 2019

Its everyone's favourite time of year again, Welsh Varsity 2019. This year the Titans look to make it a fourth consecutive victory against the Cardiff Cobras at Varsity. Previous years have seen us win 42-2 and 40-6 with our last defeat coming back in 2015 by a 2 point margin. The Titans will be aiming to out do themselves this year as a way to cap of an amazing season which saw us reach the National Semi final.

Varsity has always been a highlight fixture in our football calendar, having be battled out on 7 previous occasions the Titans are usually good for a win with 5 victories and only 2 defeats. There will be no complacency from the team though as we know that the Cobras are no push overs. They are still a solid Division 1 team and they will be on home turf so we will be making sure we leave nothing to chance. The team has been preparing hard for this game, taking a weeks rest after the Hertfordshire defeat the boys got right back into the swing of things. This years Varsity preparations consisted of an inter-team game, this allowed us to not only practice on the grass surface we will face at varsity but also to experiment with some new plays to try against the Cobras.

To build up to Varsity, over the past few years we have chosen to spotlight our Graduating players and thank them for everything they have done for the Club. A few quotes from the guys leaving.

Ike Amuze: "My favourite Titan memory was the Stirling trip, even though we got tea bagged it was a crazy bonding experience. I got closer to everyone on the team, as you do driving for like 12 hours and will always remember it. "

Ben Cheshire: I’ve had a lot of great memories as a titan, ruining Herts unbeaten season in my first year and the trip up to sterling but it has to be the quarter final win over Durham, that was incredible."

Tofumni Okude: "Being a Titan to me, is being in a brotherhood. Having boys that have your back in everything, that would give their all day in day out, in training, in games and even on nights out and you would do the same for."

Varsity is Wednesday 10th of April, 11am KO, at Llanrumney Grass fields in Cardiff. If you got a Varsity ticket and fancy watching the Titans try to cap off a great year then come down and watch.
